The Position

The Enterprise Architect for gRED Computational Sciences (gCS) will be a member of the gCS Infrastructure and Architecture Leadership team and will have responsibility for designing, planning, driving, implementing, and evolving the gCS architectural vision and strategy. As a technical leader, you will be expected to lead the strategic architecture roadmap across gRED to ensure extensive engagement, alignment, and sharing as well as with architects across pRED and Roche Global Informatics.

Responsibilities

• Develop, lead, and drive strategies and plans that meet the architecture/technology needs of the gRED Computational Sciences organization. Design strategic medium-term (1-3 year) goals and objectives that foster innovation and enhance the performance of the gCS portfolio.

• Incorporate business priorities, strategies, goals, emerging technologies, and industry trends into overall technical strategy.

• Lead and set gRED-wide technical standards, models, and tools

• Lead and deliver architecture for key gCS priorities and ensure alignment across the various gCS teams to impact the technical direction for strategic programs, projects or services

• Ensure consistent and coherent alignment with the overall gRED portfolio, vision, and other enterprise-wide goals and initiatives.

• Capture and share best-practice knowledge amongst the greater technical gCS community.

• Provide strategic recommendations for Cloud architecture design, infrastructure design, software development design/architecture, information security, application frameworks, and/or interfaces.

• Act as liaison and subject matter expert for and between gCS teams of application, solution, and data architects and act as a mentor providing guidance to all team members on technical and architectural issues.

• Build relationships with counterparts and stakeholders across gRED/pRED/ Roche Global Informatics.

• Act as gRED representative and technical liaison with Roche Global Informatics technical strategy and enterprise architect community and advocate and influence so that gREDs requirements are prioritized and incorporated.

• Act as subject matter expert for cross-functional technical teams executing on large-scale initiatives involving considerable risk and complexity.

• Evaluate and recommend strategic vendors that enable gCS to innovate and accelerate computational sciences.

• Manage a small team of technical staff and provide input to resolve complex problems leveraging resources and expertise within or outside the department

Qualifications

• Advanced degree in Computer Science, Life Sciences or related fields, or equivalent experience

• 7+ years of working experience in a leadership role in the life science industry and preferably within the Research & Development business function

• 10+ years of experience at the intersection of strategy, architecture, and innovation, applying advanced technologies to large and/or complex business problems.

• Experience in modern software architecture, cloud platforms, REST & other API concepts, design patterns, information security, availability, reliability, scalability, and maintainability models

• Experience with structured enterprise architecture practices, hybrid cloud deployments, and on-premise-to-cloud migration deployments and roadmaps.

• Experience leading large scale informatics architecture projects/programs in life sciences or related industry

• Broad experience across multiple technology stacks (application, cloud, data management, integration, security, etc.) is highly desired

Relocation benefits are available for this job posting.

The expected salary range for this position based on the primary location of California is $180,300 - 334,800 and max of hiring range. Actual pay will be determined based on experience, qualifications, geographic location, and other job-related factors permitted by law. A discretionary annual bonus may be available based on individual and Company performance. This position also qualifies for the benefits detailed at the link provided below.
